Spring Cleaning Your Jewellery
I’ve been getting into the spring cleaning fever and when I found my rather mostly-empty jewellery box under a pile of paper, I knew that I had to sort out my jewellery too! My jewellery was pretty much scattered around the house – next to my bed, taken off by the sink, under the dressing table you get the idea. So I spent some time gathering it all together and finally getting it organised again even finding jewellery I haven’t seen in a while.

Most of us have jewellery that we love but we rarely take the time to keep it in tip-top condition. You’d be amazed by how wonderful your favourite jewellery can look after a quick spring clean the great news is it’s actually really easy to do. Here’s my super-easy guide to spring-cleaning your jewellery:
The first thing is to clean your jewellery box. Empty the contents of your jewellery box onto a flat surface and give it a good clean. Tip out any dust, wipe down the lid and get it looking smart you’re more likely to put your jewellery in the right place if the box looks good, right?
Next, have a quick check through your all jewellery. Untangle necklaces, lay out chains and pair up your earrings. If you’re like me you’ll soon discover a few singleton earrings don’t despair, lost earrings do have a knack of reappearing! Pop your singleton earrings in a ziploc bag ready for wearing when their partners turn up. You should also keep an eye out for any broken jewellery, especially older pieces. If you find any pieces that need a little TLC, just set them aside to take to your local jeweller.
Now give you’re ready to actually clean your jewellery. Most jewellery looks clean but if you wear something often, it probably needs a quick scrub. Earrings collect general household dirt, wedding rings face all manner of grime and even rarely-worn items will get dusty. A quick spring clean will make your favourite jewellery look like new and really bring back their sparkle.
Connoiseurs make the best jewellery cleaners and have a specific cleaner to tackle any type of jewellery. Both their Gold Jewellery Cleaning Dip and Silver Jewellery Cleaning Dip are great for most types of jewellery, even if it contains precious stones.
If your jewellery contains pearls, turquoise, cameos or any type of gemstone, Delicate Jewellery Cleaning Dip is the safest bet. This Connoiseurs jewellery dip is effective but very gentle. You can also use it to clean costume jewellery, antique pieces and unusual materials.
Follow the instructions on your chosen jewellery cleaner then rinse your jewellery in warm water and pat dry with a lint-free cloth. Just remember to put a plug in the sink there’s no point cleaning your jewellery only to lose it down the sink.
Once all your jewellery is looking fab put it neatly back in your jewellery box or if you’re like me, marvel at just how bright and sparkly everything looks!
If you only wear some of your jewellery on special occasions, it may need a quick wipe every now and again. Connoiseurs Jewellery Wipes and Jewellery Polishing Cloths are a great standby to have in your dressing table just keep them on hand for a quick freshen up before you put on your jewellery and you’ll be sparkling all night long.
